I dreamt been in jungle fight. In 1977 to 1978,this was in southern part of Africa I believe Rhodesia because of the vegetation and bush. I was the camera documenting the horrific intense fighting between Rhodesian Army which was both white and black..It gave me an eerie feeling like am back in Vietnam.like in 1968 and 1969 . I thought this are no regular rebels they are too well armed. I felt we were trapped and soon we will be overun.I thought what am I doing in this far away place..and what am I dying for.i turned to God for help in prayer. I was observing the scenes I didn't have no weapon. I witnessed a black soldiers who was a flame thrower...He was successful in burning the bush as it was dry weather...the rebels fled and stopped their assault on our position. Many rebels were killed by the flame thrower..and others badly burnt but alive.. Reminded me of Nippom bomb. The flame thrower was called to the Capital I believe it was Salisbury. Eventually his family got killed in a fire in their house in some village.I was called to document the horror of this civil war on the soldiers and their lives. His wife ,mother and children all died in the fire. The rebels burnt his family like he did them. He blamed the government for not protecting his family,he was in bitter pain.It sunk a whole in my heart..As I could see the pain in his face and the emotions in his bitter voice as he cried in bitter pain..saying he will never see his family again..and speaking other words I could not understand.. During the wake a biracial boy, half black and half white ,honoured the soldier by wearing a gas face mask, like telling the soldier he was proud of his service and looked up to him.Another black boy did the same by wearing the gas face mask..they went in front of the mass and comforted him...His whole village came to the wake..His platoon was there...and comforted and they blamed the government for not protecting his family. Both white and black soldiers
Dreams like the one you described can be deeply symbolic and often reflect our inner struggles, fears, and feelings about broader societal issues. Here are some possible interpretations of the various elements in your dream:
Jungle and Warfare Setting: The jungle often symbolizes the unknown, chaos, or survival instincts. Being in a war zone may indicate feelings of anxiety or being overwhelmed in your waking life. You might be navigating complex situations or conflicts, either personally or in your environment.
Documenting Conflict: Your role as a "camera" captures a sense of observation rather than participation. This might suggest feelings of being an outsider or a bystander in your own experiences, particularly in scenarios of conflict or emotional stress. It could also represent the importance of understanding and acknowledging pain, whether your own or that of others.
Historical References: The references to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and Vietnam indicate a connection to historical conflicts that might resonate with your thoughts on war and suffering. This may symbolize your contemplation of past traumas or injustices within society.
The Flame Thrower: This character can symbolize destructive power but also the concept of revenge and a cycle of violence. The scene of him burning the bush might reflect how pain and trauma can lead individuals to act destructively in retaliation for their suffering.
The Soldier's Family and Grief: Witnessing the soldier's pain and loss highlights themes of grief and the human cost of conflict. This could signify your empathy towards those who suffer, whether directly in wars or in personal struggles. The soldier's anguish about his family reflects a fear of loss and a desire for protection for loved ones.
Biracial Boy and Gas Mask: The biracial boy symbolizing unity between different races and serving as a bridge between communities might reflect your hope for reconciliation and understanding among disparate groups. The gas mask could represent the burden of conflict and the struggle to find clarity amidst chaos.
Blame towards Authority: The villagers blaming the government for not protecting them might mirror feelings of frustration towards systems in place that fail to provide safety and justice. This aspect of your dream could symbolize your awareness of societal issues regarding accountability in times of strife.
Overall Themes: Your dream conveys a narrative rich with themes of conflict, loss, responsibility, and the quest for understanding. It may suggest a need to process these feelings, recognizing both personal and collective trauma, and offering compassion and support in the face of adversity.
Ultimately, the meaning of dreams can vary greatly from person to person. It may be helpful to reflect on your current life circumstances, feelings, and any events that might have influenced this dream to gain further insight into what it represents for you personally.
